Winter survival kit pt.2: back to basics

top tips

IMG_5342I’m aware I already wrote up a winter survival kit, but now actually living through the dreaded season – I have some new additional items to help you survive the harsh elements.

The last few weeks have been crazy hectic, I am in my final year of uni (BA Journalism), plus working around 40 hours a week. So, consequently my beauty routine has to be versatile, fast and durable.

1). L’oreal triple action moisturiser £4.33

You can never get too much of a good ole’ moisturiser – especially during the winter months. I’ve recently started a new medication for acne which is especially drying to the skin, so this has helped me bundles. (Even before I started this meds I would cake on moisturiser, don’t wannabe a dry bitch). Honestly, for the little money it is, this cream is impressive. Presented in a glass pot, within a pretty box – you would think it is alot more expensive than it is. It doesn’t skimp on performance quality either. I use every morning and evening – it leaves skin soft and dewy, without being excessively greasy.

2). Vaseline sugar-coated limited edition £2.99

Cold weather makes me go through Vaseline like water. And what better excuse to purchase this tin, it’s pink and smells gorgeous. The great thing about Vaseline is that it’s so very versatile – handy in your make up bag; it can tame stray eyebrows, moisten lips & cheeks, create a glow on the cheeks, even helps eyelashes grow. Invest in your lips this winter!

3). L’oreal revitalift magic blur finishing cream £8.66

Another great value, low budget product. If, like me, you’ve searched low and high for a decent primer which doesn’t cost £789, I think I’ve finally cracked it. This primer smooths out any visible creases, and gives a lovely matte finish underneath your daily make-up.

4). The vintage cosmetic company tweezers £8.00

I’ve decided to embrace my caveman eyebrows, as I’ve had no time recently to go and get them threaded. So these slanted tweezers which I got from a glossy-box have been an absolute godsend (will discuss beauty subscription boxes and whether they are worth it, at a later date). Well worth investing in some decent slanted (better to pick up the hair) tweezers, for those messy in -between- salon visit periods.

5). Elizabeth Arden 3-in-1 cleanser exfoliator primer £7.90

For some unknown reason it’s also increasingly difficult to find a good face wash. It sounds like something so basic, but it can make all the difference to your skins health and appearance. This 3-in-1 cleanser is perfect. No need to cleanse, tone and prime – you got it all in one product. It’s not harsh like other facial washes, it leaves skin rejuvenated and fresh-feeling.

Now, after all this reading why don’t you treat yourself to some staple winter basics?
