The best beauty products for our recent heatwave

product review

I don’t know about you guys but this heat is too much for me. I feel like I am slowly melting, my inner core is melting. Everything is melting. But one thing that doesn’t need to have a meltdown is your beauty routine.

Just recently I’ve been reviewing a lot of skincare products for ReallyRee, and coincidentally many of them have been natural products. I am fast becoming an advocate for nature. So the latest is Urban Veda and I just thought this purifying skin wash and polish will be perfect in this weather. The tee tree and mint makes them ultra refreshing, and they decongest the skin.

I also love the Hawaiian tropic dry oil, it really makes me feel like it helps accelerate the tanning process (although the spf deffo isn’t high enough for this weather, I tend to layer this with sun cream). It’s so important to remember to wear protection – just because we’re in England doesn’t mean we won’t burn. This oil is relative cheap and moisturising, plus it smells like coconut & guava!

Carmex has always been one of my faves when it comes to lipcare, I suffer from chapped lips and the hot weather can make this worse. Their lip balms are so affordable and seem to last forever. I don’t think I’ve ever finished a carmex pot?

Make sure if you wear any make up or lip balms that they also contain spf. Burned swollen lips will not be attractive.**(Not a cheap alternative to lip fillers)**

Happy tanning guys!

Primark mermaid glow highlighter – a cult product for £3.50

product review

I urge you one and all to stop wasting your money on expensive highlighters! I know the struggle; they look so attractive and shiny, but this highlighter from Primark ticks all the boxes. It ensures that you look like a real life mermaid, if ever there was one!

Full review

Firstly, it is only £3.50, so not really a huge investment. The highlighter also comes in other colours, should you not prefer a shiny white mermaid metallic look.

It is ultra pigmented! In comparison to my Urban Decay highlighter (I have the powder highlighter in ‘Sin’), I can’t say there is much difference in quality. The Primark highlighter has longevity, I have been wearing it for around two weeks now; and everyday it stays put for the entire day. I know this because on my way home from work, I happened to just catch my reflection in glass and my cheeks were shining to the high heavens. Of course I smiled to myself.

The next time you visit Primark be sure to grab one of these – if there’s any left. Sure, the packaging is rather basic maybe compared to more expensive highlighters. But you know what, I like it. It’s simplistic and it does the job, pretty darn well may I add.

[Perhaps not the best pic to show off the highlight, but it’s there glowing away if you look close enough]
[…Andddd swatch 😍, you can really see the high pigmentation here]

Summer 17 skincare essentials – L’Oréal fine flowers review

product review

I really do love a good skincare product. Even though I’ve got tonnes of skincare stuff coming out of my ears, I still shamelessly end up buying more. When I saw L’Oréal’s new fine flowers range on special offer in Boots, I really had no choice but to buy the milk and gel cream wash.

L’Oréal is such a unique brand in that their product design is always so effortlessly classy – but yet their prices are fair in comparison to what else is on the market. Despite their good pricing, the quality is never compromised.

Fine Flowers Milk 400ml – The cleansing milk advices you to sweep it across your face morning and night, in order to cleanse and remove make up. However, I found the milk is so soft, that I often find myself using it as a moisturiser. It smells lush, and 400ml? You’d be mad not to invest – 400ml will probably last me the entire year!

Fine Flowers Gel-cream Wash 150ml – Both products are marketed towards dry and sensitive skin, and they both are very delicate to the skin. The face wash is free from soap and alcohol, and promised to cleanse your face without drying it. And it does just that.

Overall review:

I’ll be totally honest, initially I bought these products because they were so pretty. I was thinking gosh, they will look great in some Instagram flat-lays 💅🏻

However I’m so happy I did invest, they are both great value products that deliver excellent results. I’m particularly impressed with the milk; I have very temperamental skin which is often dry, sensitive AND greasy (my skin seems to be fighting itself from within, even though I’m 24 it has not calmed down). But this milk really soothes my skin, it’s an absolute essential for Summer ’17.

I mean, who doesn’t want softer skin!?

Create the perfect brows with these four cult products

top tips

I honestly have not got my eyebrows shaped by a professional for around 2 years now. Yes I do shamelessly walk around with bushes on top of my eyelids, but I rock it so well. And I make those bushes look slick af.

There are several reasons why this works in my favour, it has allowed my eyebrows to grow out naturally and it also saves me time and money. Eyebrows grow way too fast, spending £10 on a wax every 6 weeks is rather a lot of maintenance.

So I decided to ditch the threading / waxing and go natural. Just me, my tweezers and the world. And it hasn’t worked out all too bad.. of course you need the correct products to give the illusion of perfect brows.

Here’s what you need;

1. Slanted tweezers, £8

These will rapidly become your bffl. Follow your natural eye brow shape, and pluck out re growth every week – often a good idea to get your eyebrows threaded that one initial time to define shape. And thereafter, follow that shape.

2. Kiko Milano full coverage concealer in 02, £7.50

Using the slanted brush, you will conceal to your hearts content. Blending away imperfections and concealing your eyebrows all the way to brow fleekiness. When you have unruly regrowth, concealer is an absolute god send.

3. NYX tame & frame tinted brow pomade, in 01 blonde, £6

This is your filler, your eyebrow pencil and gel combined in one tiny pot that seems to last forever. (I’ve had this current one almost two years now eeek). Apply this with your eyebrow slanted brush and fill in as necessary. You don’t even have to be neat or precise, you have the concealer to clean up your mess.

4. Kiko Milano eye make up brush in 204, £3.20 (on sale at the moment, normally £10.90)

This brush has been my saviour the past two years. Use it to fill your brows, wipe clean and conceal the hell out of them.

Happy browing!

Spring fling: Why you need Guerlains ‘Mon Guerlain’ perfume this May

reviews

Personally I’ve been wearing a rather heavy classic Chanel fragrance religiously since winter, and I thought to myself this week it’s time I switched it up.

Spring often signifies new beginnings, fresh starts. As the flowers bloom, and the birds sing. We look forward immensely to warmer weather (I say this phrase loosely, as we know the weather in England is somewhat bipolar, to say the least) and longer days. So it’s a perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new perfume to reflect the change in season.

5 reasons why you should invest in Guerlains latest perfume Mon Guerlain:

1. Spring fling

As mentioned it is a fresh girly scent which makes you feel ever so pretty. Perfect for the changing season. Perfectly perfectly fitting.

2. You deserve it

Its almost halfway through 2017, we’ve been working hard since the beginning of the year. Personally I’ve been saving hard and being extremely disciplined.

Working hard is great, but sometimes you need to know when it’s ok to treat yourself. I bought this perfume this weekend to congratulate myself on getting a new job. (I’ll probably be living off pot noodles the rest of the week but hey at least I’ll smell fly 💁🏼)

3. Relatively cheap

I’m still weighing up whether I have become de sensitised to what expensive is, or living in London has warped my view of what expensive is? But I found a 30ml version of the perfume in John Lewis for £38, which I believe is outstanding value for such an upmarket brand. I mean the perfume is about the going price for any prestige 30ml bottle – but shopping around you can get it slightly cheaper.

Also this weekend Boots is offering 10 percent off the fragrance! (Where I purchased mine)

4. Understated

I love the fact that I haven’t seen everyone posting this perfume on their Instagram. I love the fact Guerlain still oozes French classic glamour, without becoming too overtly commercialised. Why not be different and classy?

5. Smell delicious

It’s one of those fragrances where you can’t stop sniffing yourself. It is a tribute to today’s femininity and was inspired by Angelina Jolie. The fragrance combines fresh raw materials; Lavender from Provence, Jasmine from India, Sandalwood from Australia & Vanilla from Papua New Guinea. And the combination is pure decadence.

A sweet enchanting smell, fresh and floaty and feminine. Absolute perfection for spring. Go on.. you know you want to.

Easter special – The three best bargain beauty buys for Spring

product review

First of all, I would like to wish you all a lovely Easter. If, like me you are avoiding chocolate like the plague this weekend, I know the intense internal struggle sister.

But, if you can’t eat chocolate and naughty treats then at least indulge in some beauty retail thez 😍- because there’s always a valid reason to treat yourself..

As you know I’m a complete product whore, and have recently starting writing beauty reviews for reallyree.com (hurrah more products – for free)! So I have put together this cute list of ultimate Spring buys, at the moment I am obsessed with cute little unknown brands that don’t cost the earth. Anyone can go into Selfridges and buy a Tom Ford lipstick for £57 and say it’s amazing. But sometimes there is beauty in the unknown, exploring and promoting independent brands. This is also how cult products are found, often accidentally.

Here’s my pick;

1. Something for the skin, Dr Manuka CC cream SPF 20, £7.99

Because I’m a firm believer in preserving and loving the skin your in. Everyone who’s anyone has seen Dr Manuka products all over the beauty industry for probably the best part of the last 6 months. I have been so anxious to try the range, so when I spotted the Cc cream in my local Superdrug for £7.99 I could not resist.

Utilising pure bee venom and manuka honey, the Cc cream delivers an exotic feel for very little money. I decided to stop wearing foundation a while ago – this is my new must have product. You can wear it under make up or alone – it gives radiance to skin, an even coverage (although very light and natural), and has a colour correcting formula.

Plus it helps to fight ageing, the bee venom promotes skins elasticity. AND it has SPF 20. Is there anything this product doesn’t do for the skin!?

2. Lashed out; Amazing shine 100% human hair lashes in 110, £1.99

Absolute bargain of the century, discovering these lashes in a back street store in west London was deffo one of my genius moments. They are so cheap I can probably afford a different pair every day of next year.

Amazing quality (100% human hair), a good range of styles. I have opted for no. 101 which is natural yet glam in my usual whispy style.

3. Highlighter on fleek; Technic get gorgeous highlighting powder in pink, £3

The cheapest and best highlighter ever. Put it this way, against my UD highlighter this one is much better value. Ignoring the price tag, it is simple to apply, very pigmented and gives a lovely glow. The best dupe ever.

Have a lovely, glowing Easter guys 🐣💗
